Third-graders to take high-stakes reading test in March
Third-grade students throughout Indiana will be taking a high-stakes reading test in March. Known as IREAD3, an acronym that stands for Indiana Reading Evaluation and Determination, the test is a must-pass for third-graders.

Registration for half-day and full-day kindergarten starts Feb. 21
Kindergarten registration for the 2012-13 school year will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday, February 21-24, and Monday, February 27, at each elementary school. Children are to be registered at the school they will attend, but those who will attend Promise Road Elementary School are to register at Stony Creek.

Three schools receive state's 4 Star status
Hazel Dell and Hinkle Creek Elementary schools, along with the former Forest Hill Elementary School, have been named Four Star Schools by the Indiana Department of Education.

Book It Leaders
The leaders for each grade as of the end of November for the most minutes read are: Kindergarten-Mrs. Spear; 1st Grade-Mrs. Herron; 2nd Grade-Mrs. Harger; 3rd Grade-Mrs. Sexton; 4th Grade-Mr. VonIns. Please continue reading and logging your minutes for this program. At the end of March, we will tally all of the minutes read throughout the year to see which class will win a party for themselves. Mrs. Patterson is now using the logs from the Book It program to tally minutes read for her reading programs. Please be sure to turn in your calendar at the beginning of each month.

Father's Night Basketball
Father's Night Basketball begins on Monday, November 7 at Hinkle Creek. Play will take place in both East and West gyms. All Dads who enjoy playing basketball are invited to attend. Father's Night Basketball is for adults only; we do not have babysitting available.

Early Dismissal Days
